current events

  Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.
Here is a link to our online modelling book for this unit of learning.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

  • Year ⅚ :  I can locate and summarise ideas by skimming or scanning, by identifying key words, topic sentences, and key questions, or by using subheadings

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

Describe Map Onefirst one

Describe map Twosecond one

My Next Step is to continue to  apply the reading and  research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.

Use coordinates and the language of direction.

In Maths we have been using to: Use a coordinate system or the language of distance and direction to specify locations and describe paths.

Here is a link to our online modelling book. This shows all of the learning we have been doing.

EVIDENCE of my learning.

Here are some screenshots to show the IXL activities I have completed.
I did it with Jordan.

You can find evidence of my extended abstract problem solving tasks in my Maths Book.
The Figure it out activities that I completed were  called:
  • Going the distance
  • Clara’s Cowpats

My next step is to continue to apply what I have learned in a range of problem solving activities.

Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

  1. you have to be skilled
2.there has to be no spelling mistakes

  1. it has to have lots of infomation

my one is in my book

diary of a wimpy kid

There is a boy named Greg that has a diary and two brothers called Manny and Rodrick. He lives with his Mum and Dad and goes to a high school.

A bit of the story I enjoyed was when Greg was hiding in Rodricks draw because it was funny.

I think the book was cool because it has lots of interesting parts in it.

Leadership Article

In writing I have been learning to use basic punctuation that is mostly correct;
- use capital letters, full stops and commas,
- use question marks and exclamation marks,
- use apostrophes,
- use speech marks

I have been especially focussing on using exclamation marks and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.

One of the leadership traits is goal focused means a person or a group who works hard to acheve results they have set.
